Landlords guide to lettings Part 3 : Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detector regulations.

Tenants safety is one of the most important aspects of letting your property. Making sure alarms and detectors are up to date and working is a huge step to prevent putting tenants in a dangerous situation and leaving you liable.

To keep you on your toes regarding these important safety measures the government has put out new regulations regarding this.

There must be one smoke alarm on every story of the building which is used for accommodation and living purposesĀ

A carbon monoxide alarm in every room containing a solid fuel burning combustion appliance. These appliances include wood heaters and fireplacesĀ

They must be checked at the start of every tenancy to avoid fines and potential prosecutionĀ

At Fenix, we ensure these devices are tested and work before the tenancy begins to ensure the safety of our trusted landlords and the tenant.
